Food Envy If I have one flaw, it would most definitely be food envy. No matter what I order, I’m probably still going to covet every last mouthful of your dinner. I’m sure I’m not alone. Since their opening last year, Squeezed’s award winning burgers have been a constant source of salivation and desire. Instagram square after Instagram square of juicy meat, golden brioche bun and overflowing sauce. Check it out now for yourself but be prepared to feel the hunger . Sadly, although we’d tried to visit Squeezed before, Monday is their much deserved rest day and we were…
Recipe: Tubby Tom’s Tobacco Onions
I recently posted on Instagram about a delicious trout dish at The Pig Hotel Near Bath. Pretty though it was, I wasn’t surprised that most people couldn’t take their eyes off the golden brown, crispy tobacco onions in the background instead. Particularly those people lucky enough to have been to The Pig and tried them for themselves. The post comments reminded me just how much I loved them and so I went on the hunt for a recipe. Boy was I excited when Google instantly threw up the actual tobacco onions recipe from The Pig. Happy days! Annoyingly the recipe…
Flashdance at The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham
I was only alive for the last few years of the eighties but, after watching Flashdance’s fabulous neon clad dancers at Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham last night, I left with a nostalgic longing for lurid legwarmers. Flashdance tells the story of Alex Owens, welding apprentice by day and club dancer by night. Her dreams of becoming a professional dancer are within reach; if she can pass an audition into the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy. Supported by new boyfriend, and boss’s son, Nick Hurley, the musical follows the rise and fall of her journey through love, friendship and self-discovery. The cast Joanne…
Noël Coward’s Private Lives at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham
With a fresh take on a 1930’s classic comedy, London Classic Theatre brings Noël Coward’s Private Lives to the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham this week. The Story The play begins in 1930’s Deauville, France on two sea view balconies. A divorced couple are unwittingly thrown back together upon discovering they are honeymooning with their new spouses on adjacent balconies. Elyot Chase and Amanda Prynne are the archetypal can’t live with each other, can’t live without each other couple. Jolted into the realisation that their new partners are a simpering, pale imitation of their tempestuous love, they embark on a whirlwind reconciliation…
The Bell Inn, Langford
As you know, Adam and I often go out for dinner. Most of the time the places we frequent are good, although there are a few terrible meals out there. Occasionally though, we stumble across something truly exceptional. As The Bell at Langford had only been open a few days, I had no preconceptions when we were invited over to try the Cotswolds’ newest pub; we had a good idea though as the owners, Peter Creed and Thomas Noest, have an excellent pedigree gained in and around the Cotswolds. Happily, The Bell turned out to be a real gem – exceptional…
Dinner and Stay at Eckington Manor, Worcestershire
Nestled in the Avon valleys on the border of the Cotswolds in Worcestershire, you’ll find the rather beautiful Eckington Manor. Boasting a top of the range kitchen and cookery school, their restaurant is headed up by husband and wife team Sue and Mark Stinchcombe. If Head Chef Mark’s name sounds familiar, you’re most likely a dedicated Masterchef – The Professionals viewer – Mark won the series in 2015, after wowing the judges with his impressive culinary talents. As Adam and I had heard rave reviews of Mark’s food from foodie friends, we jumped at the opportunity to visit Eckington Manor for…
War Horse at New Theatre, Oxford
After seven award winning years in the West End, The National Theatre’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse has hitched its wagon and galloped off on tour. Having coveted tickets for ages, LewisLoves journeyed to the New Theatre Oxford at breakneck speed last night to check it out. The Story The play begins in rural Devon at the outbreak of the First World War, and follows the story of Albert and his horse, Joey. Poverty and desperation necessitate Joey’s reluctant sale into the Cavalry and he is sadly transported across the English Channel into the midst of battle. His war is not straightforward though and…
Spa Time at Bristol Harbour Hotel
With the dark winter nights drawing in, it’s sometimes hard to think back to the gloriously bright days of summer. I’m currently finding that life seems to consist of just working and commuting, with very little ‘me time’. This is something I’m so committed to changing in the New Year. Thankfully, Bristol Harbour Hotel recently invited Adam and I to their underground HarSPA for some express pampering and high quality downtime, so as you can imagine, we jumped at the chance. Bristol Harbour Hotel Bristol Harbour Hotel is a relative newcomer, occupying a rather impressive former bank on the corner…

Sudeley Castle’s Spectacle of Light
Sudeley Castle is undeniably a beautiful attraction all year round. Much like Westonbirt Arboretum though, you’ll see it in a whole new light at Christmas as the grounds and castle are creatively illuminated during their Spectacle of Light. Fans of fairy lights and disco balls will be in their element. Sudeley’s lawn is carpeted with a rainbow of vibrant parasols, walls and trees are colourfully uplit, and the Queen’s Garden is swathed in a stunning fairy light net. As you walk around the grounds, you’ll find a magical experience around every corner; the lighting has been cleverly designed to enhance…
