Update: Meggie’s has now moved to the scenic Stow-on-the-Wold so pay her a visit there instead. Her quaint shop in Painswick continues as The Falcon’s Nest, a delightful gift shop / art studio.
We have visited Meggies, a lovely boutique in Painswick full of local goodies, a few times before and always come away with something cute and unusual. It is owned by Meg, one half of local bloggers Millie and Meg.
Sadly Meg’s adorable puppy, Pepper, wasn’t there on our latest visit but you are guaranteed a warm welcome regardless and we were soon catching up on all the exciting new developments since the last time we visited. The shop is currently full of things that we would have loved to have taken home; some colourful Rave coffee bean sacks upcycled into cushions by the talented Sarah Ward nearly made their way into our car until we found our sensible hats and tugged them back on.
We eventually settled on some cute yet practical enamel mugs, perfect for cradling around a campfire, filled to the brim with hot chocolate, whipped cream and marshmallows. Obviously we had to make sure the mugs worked so we felt obliged to christen them as soon as we got home! Only the ‘Hot Chocolate‘ and ‘Coffee‘ designs were in so we will be rushing back as soon as Meg’s order of ‘Tea‘ mugs arrives.
Heading out the door, mugs swinging in a crisp paper bag, we spotted a bucket of lovely rustic flowers hand tied in brown Kraft paper. Adam thoughtfully grabbed me a bunch full of bright yellow sunflowers and purple lisianthus to brighten up the living room and ran back in to pay for them.
Two minutes later we were back again, having decided they would also make a great extra birthday present for Sarah’s mum the following day. The flowers are a great collaboration between Meggies and Painswick florist, The Bespoke Flower Company, and can be found brightening up her doorway every Friday. Over a week later, they are still looking exceptionally healthy and well worth the £10 we paid.
We are looking forward to seeing what new treats Meg has found next time we visit, and will definitely be going on flower day!
